Original name: Rocco Marchegiano
September.1st 1924 - August. 31st 1969.
Heavyweight Champion of the World 1952-1956. One of the greatest
heavyweight champions of all time, in 1952 he beat Jersey Joe Walcott for the Heavyweight Championship.
Marciano retired in 1956 the only Heavyweight Champion in History to retire undefeated. In 1969, Marciano boarded a single engine Cessna in Chicago for a flight to Des Moines, Iowa. Shortly before landing, the plane crashed in Newton,
Iowa, Marciano was killed instantly. In 1990 Rocky Marciano was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame.
